Just a quick post as we have stepped into November and CONQUERED October...just completely CONQUERED it!! I am so glad to be at November 1st and think that this picture from last night's trick-or-treatin' sums it all up.
Jaron was a Twins baseball player. (Denard Span to be exact!) He went to his first MLB game last month with his dad and both Grandpas. It was very exciting as they sat 2 rows behind home plate and us girls at home got to look at them on the TV the entire game. Someday he will realize just how cool that seat was...prob when we go to our next MLB game and sit in the cheap seats! haha
Brooke was Katniss from The Hunger Games. Sure she read the books (and loved them) and saw the movie (a "few" times) but Brooke is very similar to Katniss...a quiet strong character who suceeds in the end. B has recently started her college search. Immediately after running in the State Cross Country meet, Doc and B flew to Denver, CO to visit the Colorado School of Mines. It is an Engineering school in Golden, CO that also has a great D2 soccer program. BUT it is a long ways away...she put on a brave face and handled herself like a pro with the Admissions and Coach's questions (like Katniss) but deep down I wonder if it is too far away...time will tell!
Dayle was a Duct tape super-hero...and boy is she!! She has jumped into Middle school with full force. Only one of four 6th graders to get picked to join the LIF team, Dayle can't wait to help others out. She has a very big heart for all. Everyone knows Dayle by name and that makes me "Dayle's Mom" to many friendly faces around school. ( I love it!) So, just like the ever helpful Duct tape roll you have in your kitchen, Dayle is reliable and here to save the day!
Lauren was a tooth. You read me right. (Keep reading and you will figure out why...) And yet, Lauren is just like a tooth...hard and shiny on the outside but tender and sensitive on the inside. High school has proven that Lauren can be tough. She made the Varsity Cross Country team and ran very well proving she is strong and competitive. Shiny you ask? Well of course, Lauren is always shiny from her Miss Me jeans to her lip gloss and perfectly assembled outfits. (A girl's gotta look good!) Yet Lauren is learning life lessons (thanks to High school girls...ugh) and realizing that family time is pretty important. We can sure have some great conversations that I treasure!
Reese was the Tooth Fairy. You knew it, right? She has watched Jaron and Dayle lose teeth and get money and she wants in! So when we asked what she wanted to dress up as for Halloween, she simply said "A tooth fairy." Not a Princess nor a fairy but a TOOTH fairy. So we did the best we could as we rarely purchase a full costume...gotta love that glue gun! So that is her lot in life lately...trying to keep up with her older siblings. As she heads to school in the morning she is so proud to be just like the others. She always keeps us on our toes...what a live wire!
That pretty much sums it up. Hello November and meals around the family table with more than 4 seats filled...better get out my crock pot! I am almost giddy...
