At yet another track meet, Jaron & Reese pull out the sidewalk chalk to pass the time. We also went through 3 juice boxes, a bag of goldfish, 2 granola bars, 1 pretzel and a bucket of popcorn...in 2 hours!
The Blue track at Drake Stadium in Des Moines...a runner's dream and a perfect day for State Track Meet.
Brooke is waiting second in line for her second leg of the 4x800. Not sure if she is nervous at this point but we were!
Heelan is in 7th place after the first leg. (Brooke is by the guy in the red hat)
Get that baton and go Brooke go!! From the look on her face she was IN THE ZONE!!
After one lap, Brooke had Heelan in 4th place and had run a 68 split. She looked strong and we were yelling like crazy people. It was awesome!
And as she passed the baton to the third leg, Heelan was in 3rd. We joked that she made us real proud as she chased down and beat "that purple team from NW Iowa!"
Walking away from the race with a time of 10:04 and a split of 2:27, the Bishop Heelan 4x800 team could hold their heads high. They came in seeded 17th and finished 15th with their best time all season. Now, the off season training continues and we look ahead to next year...
...good bye for now. We'll be back.
