Thanks to a good friend of Dayle's we are now members of Johnson's ATA Black Belt Academy. Cassidy (Dayle's fellow 3rd grade buddy from school) is a black belt and handed Dayle a free 2 month membership last December. After much thought, we decided to give it a try as long as JC could go along. So, now we are trying to balance an already crazy schedule with another 2 nights of Taekwondo practice. Should be interesting...
Above Dayle is showing Mr. Johnson her quick cat-like punching skills. The first time she was too slow and missed and on this try she actually connected. Just so you know, Mr. Ryan Johnson is a graduate of Iowa State University. Sure makes us feel more at home to know he is from CYCLONE COUNTRY! Go State!

These are the side kicks that everyone likes to yell and scream while doing. It looks to me that she is actually yelling something but at home she seems so quiet when practicing. The atmosphere at the ATA is fun, focus, and fundamentals. We are enjoying the discipline they demand too. I may need to take some notes for our homefront!

And, of course, here are the little guys! JC is actually very responsive and attentive. He is in his first setting of "after-school" activities. His eyes are always watching and he seems to be enjoying the whole event. Of course, this little man is a HUGE fan of Star Wars (like his mom!) and so he thinks this is Jedi training. Sure hope and pray he turns out nothin' like Anakin...maybe more like Obi-Wan!
This picture above shows he is keeping up with the yellow belts. The following pics I had he was nowhere close. But as his mom, I posted the best one. Of course!

This evening they were working on keeping their hands up protecting their face. JC followed instructions great. However, Mr. Johnson also likes them to keep their eyes on him. That we need to work on! Probably didn't help that JC's mom was snapping 50 pictures of him!!
